    Grew up in poverty in a rented guest house, on food assistance, and couldn't read.

  2. A school that fit

    His mom taught him at night, then moved him to a school that worked for him. Everything changed.

    Full-ride scholarship to ASU. Worked full time, graduated debt-free in mechanical engineering.

    Launched his first company in 2016 to build tools for personalized cancer treatment, then pivoted to pandemic testing.

    Husband, father of three, Chandler resident since 2012, and mentor to Arizona entrepreneurs.

What David will work on

A school that fits every kid

One school decision changed David's life. Parents should have real options, and every child in LD12 should leave school able to read, reason, and compete.

Room to build

David started his first business here with help from local incubators. He'll fight for a competitive tax and regulatory climate so Arizonans can start businesses, hire their neighbors, and take risks.

Growth only works if the water is there. David will bring an engineer's approach: measure it honestly, plan decades ahead, and protect it for the next generation.

Short bio

David Richardson is a Republican candidate for Arizona State House in Legislative District 12. Raised in Phoenix on food assistance, he became the first in his family to earn a college degree, graduating debt-free from ASU on a full-ride scholarship. An engineer, he has founded three Arizona bioscience and healthcare companies and was selected by the U.S. State Department as a Global Innovation Fellow. He lives in Chandler with his wife and three children.

About David

Born and raised in Phoenix, David grew up in a rented guest house on food assistance. He couldn't read until his mother taught him at the kitchen table and moved him to a school that fit him, a decision he credits for everything that followed. He earned a full-ride scholarship to ASU, worked full time through college, and graduated debt-free as the first in his family with a degree. After engineering roles in medical devices and at ASU, he launched his first company in 2016 to build tools for personalized cancer treatment. During the pandemic, he pivoted his team to rapid-response diagnostic testing for local health organizations, businesses, and assisted living facilities. Today he runs healthcare ventures, partners with local researchers on new treatments for cancer and untreatable infections, and mentors Arizona entrepreneurs.
